Holly Randall
I am from Herreid, SD. I graduated a Herreid Yellowjacket in 1997 and I lived there almost all of my life.
In high school, I participated in basketball, cross country, track, and cheerleading. My senior year, our girls’ cross country team earned runner up honors, and our girls’ track team earned championship honors. I took stats for football, was on the yearbook staff, and I participated in the school plays from 8th grade through my senior year. My class had 12 people in it, 8 girls and 4 boys. We are still close today and have a group text and facebook page that we keep each other informed on. We all know each other’s birthdays and where everyone lives. High school was fun! We had friends in surrounding communities that we created awesome memories with as well. Some of those towns were Pollock, Eureka, Selby, Bowdle, Hoven, Mobridge, Strasburg, and Linton.
I went to college at Northern State from 1997, graduating in May of 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While at college, I participated in four years of track and cross country, and one year of women’s basketball. I earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership in May of 2013.
My family and I moved to Aberdeen this May, and I am in my first year as Elementary Principal of the Northwestern School District.

What interested me in education is that I really loved the social and fun atmosphere that school provided me. Growing up in a small town and small school brought me such special memories! My mom also told me that working in a school would be a great job if I wanted to be a mother so I would have the same schedule as my kids.
I love learning, meeting new people and creating good relationships. These are some of the things that are most rewarding about my job as an educator.
If I could have any other job, it would be owning a lodging business with storefront spaces to provide other entrepreneurs with a space to realize their dreams. I have also had a passion for healing practices including yoga, meditation, and massage therapy. I will complete my yoga instructor certification this fall and hope to become a certified massage therapist in the near future.
My biggest role models are my parents and my husband. My dad is a successful business owner, my mom is a homemaker and raised my sister, brother, and myself, and my husband is an accomplished educator, coach and owner of a construction business. They all inspire me with their personal gifts and in how they live their lives.
My hobbies are learning, which includes reading and doing, laughing, anything fitness/health related, watching movies and playing card games.
In ten years, I see myself following my two young kids in their school activities, enjoying life, and living out some of my other passions.
I do love where I live, but if I lived anywhere else, it would be in a warmer climate. Winters here can get so long.
I listen to country music and some pop.
My guilty pleasure food is oreos and ice cream.
The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins
Cameron Diaz would play the lead in a movie about my life.
My super power choice is to be able to fly.
My biggest pet peeve is close minded people.
My advice for the students of Northwestern is to be your own person. Don’t compare yourself to others, or compromise who you are to fit in. Focus on you and work hard to be the best you can be at every single thing you do.
