SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are looking for volunteers to provide crockpots of soup, veggie trays, and desserts for the teachers’ meal on Friday, October 27th during conferences. If you are interested in providing any of the above, please contact Alicia Bruns at 290-7544 by Tuesday the 24th.

 

On Thursday, the NW Competition Cheer/Dance Team will be performing their routines at 1:30 for the students, staff, and community members in the gym. Following this we will wish our cheer/dance teams and football team best of luck as we send them off to Rapid City for State Competition Cheer/Dance Competition and Colman for 1st round football playoffs. We will follow with a 2:00 dismissal!

 

The football playoff game Thursday night will be broadcast on KJAM 103.1 as well as online at www.amazingmadison.com.

 

Northwestern School will be providing a “fan bus” for anyone interested in traveling to Colman on Thursday to support the Wildcat football team in their 1st round playoff game vs Colman-Egan. Please sign up in the office or e-mail Jessica.halvorson@k12.sd.us. We will need to have enough interest to send a bus! Cost will be approximately $10 per person. Please sign up ASAP so we can get an accurate count!

 

Lifetouch picture retakes will be Tuesday, October 24th. Forms are now available in the office.

 

The Northwestern Community is invited to come shop at our annual book fair on Monday, October 23 through Friday, October 27.  Book fair hours are 12:30 – 4:00 on Monday through Thursday and 1:00 – 7:00 on Friday (during parent teacher conferences).  All profits will be used to purchase books for the Elementary/Middle School Libraries.  Payment method is either cash or check and 6.5 percent tax will be added to all purchases.  If you prefer to shop online during these dates, the link to do so is:  www.scholastic.com/bf/northwesternschool Books make great gifts! The Spink County Point of Dispensing (POD) for the influenza vaccine will be held in Redfield on Wednesday, November 1st. This is a free service for children ages 6 months through 18 years of age. Forms have been sent home with students. Please return forms before Thursday, October 26th to the school office. Northwestern will be busing students to receive this vaccine that morning and busing them right back. If you have any questions about this vaccine, please contact Amy Rothacker, Spink County Community Health 472-2434.

 

We are now taking orders for NW Lettermans jackets! Cost will be approximately $260 but depends on total # sold. Please contact Rich Osborn with your orders before the end of the day on Friday, October 20th. E-mail richard.osborn@k12.sd.us.

 

All seniors need to submit a senior headshot AND a baby/elementary picture to Sadie for the yearbook by October 31st at SV3077@k12.sd.us.

 

School meal balances can now be viewed online through the DDN Campus Parent Portal https://sis1.ddncampus.net/campus/portal/northwestern.jsp. Click Food Service on the left side to see balances for your students. You can also see a history of transactions from this screen. If you do not currently have a login for the parent portal, please e-mail Jessica Halvorson at Jessica.halvorson@k12.sd.us.

 

LUNCH MENU

Hot breakfast will be served Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Salad bar is offered every WEDNESDAY. There will be a choice of salad bar or hot lunch for grades K-12.  

 

Tuesday: Meatballs, mini biscuit, mashed potatoes, peas, fruit, milk.

Wednesday: Tater tot hotdish, breadstick, broccoli, fresh veggies, fruit, milk or salad bar.

Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage patty, tri-tator, fresh veggies, fruit, milk.

Friday: Hamburgers, potato wedges, baked beans, fruit, milk.

Monday: BBQ, sweet potato puffs, fresh veggies, fruit, milk.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Northwestern Area Youth Group!!  We meet tonight and every first and third Wednesday.  On other Wednesdays we will be doing service projects so come and join us each week!!!  6:00 - 7:30

 

NCA Fall Brunch

 

Please join us on October 22, 2017 for the annual Northville Community Association Fall Brunch!  Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include French toast, ham, eggs, coffee, and juice.  The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for k-12 students, and pre-k children are free.  All proceeds benefit the community center upkeep and community events.  For questions, please email northvillecommunityassoc@gmail.com.  We look forward to seeing you there!  

NCA Board

 

We will have cub scouts coming through Mellette, Northville and Chelsea to pick up non-perishable food items for the Redfield Good Samaritan Center on Saturday, October 28th. Please plan ahead for this and more info will be coming soon!

 

NCA Gym Availability

The NCA Gym is available for sports practices and other events daily by reservation.  To reserve the gym, please email northvillecommunityassoc@gmail.com with request details.  

 

Students who do not already have an NCA family membership pay a $25 sport membership fee to use the gym as part of team games/practices.  The membership money is used to support electricity and maintenance costs.  A small number of athletic scholarships are available for students who demonstrate financial need. If you have questions about the membership fee, please email northvillecommunityassoc@gmail.com.
