Tuesday , October 23 – Wear favorite Hat (Put a cap on Drugs)

We show we are trustworthy when we follow the laws and don’t use drugs.

Wednesday, October 24 – Wear Boots (stomp out Drugs)

We respect our bodies and minds by not using drugs.

Thursday, October 25 – Wear Sweats (Being Drug free is no sweat)

We are responsible when we stay away from drugs.

Friday, October 26 – Wear favorite team shirt or jersey (team up against drugs)

We show fairness when we encourage everyone to be drug free.

Monday, October 29 – Wear Red (Red Ribbon Spirit)

We care for others by supporting drug free habits.

Tuesday, October 30 – Wear Superhero outfit or shirt (Too super for drugs)

We show our good citizenship when we help our community stay drug free.

Wednesday, October 31 – Wear Halloween costume (Spook out the drugs) Character Counts Kick Off Assembly for K-5

Northwestern School Book Fair                                                                                                

*Students, parents, and the Northwestern community are invited to shop at our annual book fair Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26 in the Elementary Library.  

*Book fair hours are Monday and Tuesday from 12:30 – 4:00, Wednesday from 12:30 – 7:00 (during parent teacher conferences), Thursday from 12:30 – 4:00, and Friday from 8:30 – 1:00.                                        

*All profits will be used to purchase books for the Elementary and Junior High Libraries.  Payment method is either cash or check and 6.5 % tax will be added to all purchases.             

 *Books make great birthday/Christmas gifts.  You are also welcome to shop online from October 17 – 30 at www.scholastic.com/bf/northwesternschool

*If you are interested in working at the book fair, please email Nancy Taylor @ nancy.taylor@k12.sd.us or call the elementary library at 887-3467 Extension 1012.

 

There will be high school football equipment check in TODAY right after school.

 

Anyone interested in purchasing a lettermans jacket, please e-mail richard.osborn@k12.sd.us before October 26th. Cost is $265.

 

THE FLU SHOT POD WILL BE VISITING NORTHWESTERN ON OCTOBER 31ST. FORMS ARE BEING SENT WITH STUDENTS!

 

Parent/Teacher conferences are Wednesday, October 24th. There is a 2:00 dismissal that day. Conferences will run from 2:30-7:00.

 

Seniors need to submit their senior pictures for the yearbook by Oct. 30. These should be full-color, vertical, head-and-shoulders pictures of the student only in appropriate school attire. Please email to Riley Grandpre at RG3150@k12.sd.us.

 

School meal balances can now be viewed online through the DDN Campus Parent Portal https://sis1.ddncampus.net/campus/portal/northwestern.jsp. Click Food Service on the left side to see balances for your students. You can also see a history of transactions from this screen. If you do not currently have a login for the parent portal, please e-mail Jessica Halvorson at Jessica.halvorson@k12.sd.us.   

 

LUNCH MENU

Hot breakfast will be served Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Salad bar is offered every WEDNESDAY. There will be a choice of salad bar or hot lunch for grades K-12.  

 

Tuesday: Super nachos, corn, fresh veggies, fruit, milk.

Wednesday: Pancake on a stick, egg patty, peas, frsh veggies, fruit, milk or salad bar.

Thursday: Philly cheesesteak sandwich, baked beans, fresh veggies, fruit, milk.

Friday: Pizza, green beans, salad, fruit, milk.

YOU WILL RECEIVE AN E-MAIL NOTIFICATION ONCE FUNDS ARE LOW. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE E-MAIL, A LETTER OR POSTCARD WILL BE SENT HOME. WE WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU WOULD USE THIS ONLINE SERVICE TO STAY ON TOP OF THESE BALANCES AND YOUR STUDENTS' MEAL HISTORY.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 The Plains Lion Club will sponsor the Northwestern Snow Queen Festival on Saturday, November 3, 2018, 7:00pm at the Northwestern High School.  Admission prices at the door are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students grades 1 thru 12.  If anyone is interested in being in the talent act, please contact Don Stahl at 887-3424. 

 

The Annual Conde Haunted House will be held on Saturday October 27th from 7:00 to Midnight at the Conde Municipal Building. Cost is $5 per trip thru.

The Mellette American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a Kleenex drive for Northwestern School. Donations can be dropped off at American Bank and Trust or at the School.

  TrunK or TreaT

  Trinity Lutheran of rural Mansfield invites all kids to stop at the NCA parking lot Halloween evening from 5:30 to 8 o’clock. 

  Look for the car with the TrunK open and lots of bags of TreaTs for all. 

  See you there! 

Agtegra in Mellette will be welcoming trick or treaters here at the elevator until 5pm on Halloween! Stop by for a treat!
